In addition to the same eligibility requirements necessary for whole blood donations, Power Red donors must meet a different height & weight requirement, and a higher hemoglobin level. Further evaluation will be made at the time of donation to determine donor’s eligibility. Minimum height, weight and hemoglobin requirements: Males: height >5’ 1” and weight >130 lbs; Females: height >5’ 5” and weight > 150 lbs Hemoglobin levels for both genders: Hgb >13.3 g/dL and Hct > 40% Please note: These minimums are for mobile blood drives. Power Red donations given at donation centers use different equipment, so have slightly different hemoglobin levels. Total blood volume, which is based on an individual’s height, weight and gender, determines eligibility. Evaluation will be made at the time of donation.
