 Gator - tail tilt pin

There is a plastic ball with a pin attached on my GTR 35. The motor is resting on that pin- is this normal?

That "ball" allows you to pin the motor in the "up" position. Effectively pulls the prop out of the water & locks it into position. The motor actually rides on a pin below that and that pin can be removed in order to trim the motor down deeper in thick mud etc.

 Gator - tail tilt pin

Is there anyone that can post a pic of this- I'm confused on the different pins.

I see a bolt that goes across the transom that looks like it can be placed in three different positions.

I also have pins below the black ball, but It is facing outward and has a cotter pin for whatever reason- I'll have to post a pic

If you have that pin with pushed in the motor will be high. You are not supposed to run with you motor resting on that pin.

The pins below that black ball are to adjust the way the shaft/prop runs in the water. If you run in the bottom hole in will dig better in mud. If you run in the top hole it will run faster but will not dig as deep in the mud.

Like WEA stated the black knob is only to lift the motor up to work on the prop or to get it out the water say to push pole flats chasing fish.

had bought he boat used and hadn't noticed it till today- I think that pin is in there good and maybe bent- should be fun to get it out

The pins your talking about with the cotter key is for the tralering bracket

Got it fixed. The tilt pin was out of place and a quick tap with a hammer realigned it.

Made a huge difference in getting off stumps-

Feel kind of stupid I've been running it with the tilt pin in

Here's the trailering bracket, the cotter pins & the two pegs which come installed on all new motors but may need to be added to any older model.
